Accommodation for your stay
On your visit to Pompeii we can offer three different types of accommodation. As you may know, Rome was separated into three groups : rich, middle class and poor. Most poor people lived in wooden huts or rented apartments. - in buildings two to three floors high and some were up to six floors high. (Apartments were mostly very poorly built). The Poor houses have mud floors, chairs and tables made out of wood, a fireplace, kitchen, small lamps and pictures hung up on wall. The regular middle class people lived in normal houses with two floors that had a dining room, reception room, garden, bathrooms, toilets, kitchens and storerooms. These were mostly mad of brick and had a tiled roof to keep out rain. Finally we have the Rich people. All rich people had very good jobs so the money they earned let them have houses such as shop houses, villas or Domuses- any private family home, mainly divided into two parts, the atrium and the Peristyle. Depending on your budget, you can choose any of these three.
